After helping to power the St. Louis Cardinals to the NL Central title, Matt Holliday was courted by the Cardinals in a bid to keep him in St. Louis. Through various reports, it appeared nobody else but the Cards were seriously going after Holliday, and ultimately they landed their major prize and 4 hole hitter, swinging behind the best player in baseball history, Albert Pujols.
